Additional Images through image machine no longer working

What changed so that now when I add images to a product via the additional images tab, they no longer appear on my dev store? I have older images, that were added months ago that appear just fine. Also, I have some newer added images that don't show up as a thumbnail, or main image, but they do show up as the zoom image.... Any suggestions for how to get all the images to appear as they should?
