    JS in Custom field

A client placed some fairly intricate JS/Ajax in a category custom field. The script loads some XML data. It works. It's slow. I haven't seen this technique before. Although I've placed JS in a content item, so it kinda feels like the same thing. Would that be faster than a custom field?

Any other issues with using this technique?

I would put all JS in "CSS/JavaScript Resources" so it can be called into pages as needed, from a central location, and have an SRI hash generated and assigned for security.
