Featured Products on SFNT of Retro Theme Not Displaying

I am working on a new Retro Theme site on a dev store. I followed the instructions and assigned the products to the featured products list, but they are not showing. Is there something I am missing that is glaringly obvious?

Are the products active?

If you go into the Product List under ReadyThemes and edit the featured products it is pulling products from a specific category or from all products?
