Custom Framework does not import Headers and Footers

I just applied a customized version of Iron and Wool framework to my site today and found that the global header and footer along with the page header and footers did not get carried over from the framework. Is this a known issue?

They all should be included. When you exported the framework were those components selected?

Yes , I had everything selected. This was my first attempt exporting and then importing a Framework. I noticed that the css and js files did not get included either.

Re: Custom Framework does not import Headers and Footers

When migrating from MMUI to CSSUI, Category and Product headers and footers seem to make it but page headers and footers are lost. Is there a fix for this or maybe a module to export/import from another store?

That data should be in the export, how are you exporting the data?

You may want to look at the conversion tool which does not required you to import/export any data.

This is not an export. We are starting with a copy a an MMUI store with existing data in the page headers and footers. After we run the migration wizard the header and footer fields for pages are gone. The only way to get them back is to unassign the item from the page and reassign. Then the data is gone as well.

I really need to get an answer here please! I don't think that you are quite getting the problem so I am going to be more thorough.

If you have an mmui store and you have custom pages (not out of the box miva pages but new pages that have been created in the past) and you have information in the page header or footer, that information may still be in the database but here is the big issue. After migrating to cssui, when editing the custom page, the header footer fields are simply not there. You have to unassign the item and then reassign the item for the header footer fields to be present. During that process is when we are losing the data. Now, with that said, to compound the problem, there is no way to export page headers and footers that I am aware of. I hope this makes sense as it is a huge problem for developers converting large stores with many custom pages. The information has to be copied and pasted one at a time. Here is an example: Go to dev.toyotapart.com and edit page Mechanical_Catalog and you will see that there is no header or footer fields. If you unassign the item and then reassign it, the header and footer fields will be there but the info is gone.

PS- This forum times out way to fast!

I just checked with our development team. Headers & Footers for custom pages are not currently saved when you run the MMUI Migration tool. They get deleted during the migration process. How many custom pages do you have. Is it feasible to manually bring over those pages with the headers/footers?

If not, You may be able to use the page import/export feature. You would have to export the pages before you run the migration tool then re-import them after. The Import / Export can be done under pages, selecting the pages you want to export and click the Export Page button.

This is a step in the right direction. I go to the live store and click the export icon, but where does it export to?

Under User Interface -> Settings there is a configurable path, but by default it is: httpdocs/editable_templates/

That does work. This would be all day for a site with 20 custom pages or more. Almost impossible for the average Joe. How bout an option to export and import page headers and footers in the data management area? I literally think it is faster to just copy and paste. Thanks anyway.

Well that explains a lot. Any chance this is going to be able to be added to the tool?
