    ReadyTheme Navigation Set link character limit

    I'm wanting to trying an rebuild a custom navigation that has a number of Power Search filter links (with a lot of characters in them) and it looks like there is a character limit for the Link URL field? I was soooo hoping to build this navigation in one simple convenient location.

    Yes the current limit is 254 characters. You should be able to fix any issues you have by using URI Management (if the links are going within the store). I'm not sure the character limit will be changed in future releases or not.

      How would I use the URI Management for a Power Search link? It's a very "custom" link:

      Code:
      Search=*&PowerSearch_Begin_Only=&ProductsPerPage=60&searchcatcount=1&priceranges=1&sort=id.desc&filter_price=&Store_Code=WFI&attropts1=design2&filter_ao1=&customfield1=brand&filter_cf1=&customfield2=contents&filter_cf2=&customfield3=width&filter_cf3=&page_offset=&ajax_src=&Screen=SRCH&srch_Color=1&openTab=color-ctgy-&srch_all=&filter_cat=833

        So, there is no way to make these Power Search links "friendly"?

          I would imagine, that you'd use the URI manager to take:

          Search=*&PowerSearch_Begin_Only=&ProductsPerPage=6 0&searchcatcount=1&priceranges=1&sort=id.desc&filt er_price=&Store_Code=WFI&attropts1=design2&filter_ ao1=&customfield1=brand&filter_cf1=&customfield2=c ontents&filter_cf2=&customfield3=width&filter_cf3= &page_offset=&ajax_src=&Screen=SRCH&srch_Color=1&o penTab=color-ctgy-&srch_all=&filter_cat=833

          and make it a short links like:

          domain.com/search/byBrand
          domain.com/search/byColor
          domain.com/search/bySize

          etc.

            How would I incorporate the other specifics of the link?

              To be frank, i've not use the URI manager too much (way to complex for most store owners to manage on their own) but, its not much different than taking:

              merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=FooFaeriesSt ore_code=magic

              and creating a short link of

              /foo-faeries-magic.html

                Yeah, I can do the foo fighting faeries in my sleep - this one sounds like it's going to become another Tom Cruise movie....

                  I'm still battling the foo fighting faeries trying to see if there is any way to make this work. I'm getting closer but there sure is a lot of "commands" included in the links I'm working with - one is for the sort filters.

                    Hi Leslie,

                    Are these individual links or are you looking to have search results just not have such long URLs?

                      I'm trying to find a way to shorten them. Seems the store's SEO people think they are the root of all evil.

                        If they are individual links, you should be able to use URI management to create redirects to a shorter link. If this is more of an analytics issue where there are multiple links being listed in GA for the same page, then I would recommend making adjustments to the GA settings following these articles:
