How does mobile_content work?

mobile_content is a content field that had previously been used in conjunction with the EmporiumPlus Toolkit Mobile Configuration. It sounds like something you may have already had in place. It's not necessarily for a Responsive site but could be adapted to do so most likely with the Client Dimensions.

I have wireframes for desktop and mobile versions of the site i'm working on. One of the pages has multiple sections that is arranged completely differently between the two views. I'd like to just make a desktop version and a mobile version. How do I use mobile_content? I tried a test version of the mobile page but it's still showing the desktop version. Do I need to add a conditional somewhere? I can't find documentation for this function.
