How do I add images to attributes?

When users click on a different attribute for a product I want to change the image, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do that. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Example page where I want to get this to work.

Sounds like to want to use the Swatch - Drop-down List coupled with Inventory Variants like this. The image you want to swap to will be the "main" image for the Inventory Variant product. In the example I linked to, it uses swatch images uploaded to the Master Product Attribute.

Hi Leslie, yes, that's what I would like to do... do you know if there is any documentation on HOW to do it?

That's a good question! I've been doing this in my sleep since the bird diaper site, so it's second nature.

Here's what I do to manually create the Inventory Variants from scratch (without using the Import method):

In the product admin, create all the attributes for the product. In the example site, I selected Attribute Type: Drop-down List
Note, you will need to manually create and upload any swatch images you would like to use
I also checked Required and Track Inventory

Once you have all of the attributes (you can use Attribute Templates), click the Generate Variants button. Most of the time, I select "Variant Price is set by the Master Product and its Attributes" and click generate.

Now I have all of the Inventory Variant products for the Master Product. I can either manually upload the image to each Inventory Variant product or use a flat file import to assign the Main image

To manually assign the image, just find the Variant Product (they will be and should remain) inactive. Add the image just as you would for any other product, upload it via the Images tab. Make sure you assign the Image Type that you use for the "main" images.

Repeat this for each Inventory Variant product.

This is just one way to do this. I have used the "Add/Update Product Variants from CSV" method to handle the whole kit and kaboodle. And I have also created Inventory Variants from existing products (similar to the Inventory Kit Builder method).

Feel free to reach out to me at my email address in the signature. I'll be happy to help you wrap your head around all this.

Thank Leslie, I think I'm getting closer. I re-generated the variants (and switched to drop down, even though I'd rather have them listed), went back to the product listing, filtered by ALL and found the 'products'. I added an image to it as you said, set it to main, and updated but no luck.
