Facets for Categories Custom Fields

Noticed that if I create a category custom field the facets checkbox is not available. I have a category that has a large number of sub-categories. Is it possible to use facets on sub-categories?

Hi Gary,

For custom fields, the facet display types available are Checkbox, Drop-Down List, and Radio Buttons. If you are using the standard Category facet, your only choice for that is Nested.

So are you saying that if I wanted to have the categories as a checkbox option for the facets I should create a category custom field for the products?
