Search Preview Questions

Matt, no errors that I am aware of, but I will check the console. Although it seems that if I search for some of the items first, it seems to work better with the preview the second time around.

I tried searching high and low through the Levels code to find the category preview code but no such luck. I would love to have 3 different dev stores so I can install the different readythemes at one time.

Hi Bruce,

Levels uses a custom set of code for its search. Some of it is JavaScript in the scripts.js file, the rest is within the admin under the API page

1. The search used is the default shipped with Miva, so categories are not included. You would have to create a custom function like that used in Levels and replace what ships with Shadows.

Is that function separate from the general 'functions' script or at least somewhat independently coded so it can be extracted and used in Levels? (I know i can look...just if you knew off hand it'd save me time :) )

1. Generally, it starts to populate after 3 characters.

Can someone please shed some light on a couple things on the search preview:

1. How many character do you have to type before it starts to pull results?
2. The search preview does not seem to work every single time, even if I am typing words that I know bring up results before. It seems like I have to refresh the page, but it's not consistent. What can I do to remedy this?
3. Lastly, how do you add the categories in the search preview, like the Level theme?

Any insight is greatly appreciated.
