    Shadows v2.0.0

** Queue awesome sounding movie trailer voice **

In a world where shopping carts ran rampant and ReadyThemes refused to work with one another, one theme brought them to justice. That theme was Shadows. It has been three years since that day, now it's time for Shadows next big adventure...jumping into the core of Miva.

    ** Queue dramatic music **

Yes, the rumors are true. Shadows is now the default ReadyTheme in Miva 10. No longer will you have to wait for an update when a new core feature is added...it will already be there.

    What's New in Shadows v2.0.0

We examined the way ReadyThemes worked with the core software and wanted a tighter integration. While working on this, we made some improvements to the original version of Shadows.
    • Cleaned and trimmed up the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code.
    • Improved accessibility for better user inclusivity.
    • Compliant with Google's latest Web Vitals metrics.
    • Improved overall Page Speed Metrics.

Additionally, you now have the option to use a developer version of Shadows for your site builds.
    • Native support of CSS custom properties (variables).
    • Native support for SCSS.
    • Gulp build process to output a single CSS file and a single JS file.

Point of order - since this is Shadows 2.0.0 is there a way to visually differentiate it from the older versions of the Shadows demos? When you look at the demo (and link) for v2.0.0 it all looks the same. I would think I've gone to the wrong demo. The documentation on the other hand clearly notes that it is v2.0.0 with "What's New in Shadows v2.0.0"

Two more comments - how do you activate Shadows 2.0.0 (since it ships with it)? And are you going to start a v2.0.0 thread?

        Hi Leslie,

Well, for all intents and purposes, v2 does look very similar to v1 ;-)

When you create a new site or create a new development branch in Miva 10, Shadows will already be applied. You can also get a version of the ReadyTheme from the Apps Store. As for a separate forum, I am going to just keep this one going.

          Matt,

I just created a new dev branch in my 10 stores and it failed to overwrite Shadows 1.0, we need to look into that. I downloaded Shadows 2, deleted Shadows 1 and the uploaded Shadows 2 and now I'm all set. But users will be confused until we fix that.
          Thanks,

Gee, and who would have been most confused? I think I have another superpower - LOL

FYI - if you rename the pkg file name, you can upload it. But yeah, I expected to see it there.

Thanks, Jamie - I had updated to MM10 on my dev store so I could look at the code for Shadows v2.0.0. I do like the message in the warning box that comes up when you start the process. I do like not needing to jump through hoops for a dev environment - but I still highly recommend that you get a dev copy of the store you want to update, just to see what will happen and then be able to train the store owner. It is very, very different - in a good way. I managed to find the template history all by myself. I don't recall the click being added to the hamburger menu but it's a nice touch hiding the history.

                      Hi Leslie and Jamie

I have filed a bug on the Framework description not being updated after update to mm10. However if you apply the shadows framework after update it will apply the new shadows v2.0 to your store. Its just the description in admin that didn’t get updated.

This will only happen on stores that already had shadows uploaded before update to mm10. If you create a new store after update, or update a store that has doesn't currently have a copy of the shadows framework, the description on the shadows framework will be correct.

                      Hope this helps.

Anyone else seeing this, V2 Shadows when you add 1 of an item to cart. Then Edit Cart and click the + to increase quantity. Item goes to 0 and is removed. Have tested in Chrome and Edge. Miva 10 in a dev store, maybe I have something set wrong but wanted to advise.

I am not able to duplicate this. Can you test the demonstration site [ https://shadows.mivareadythemes.com/ ] and tell me if it still happens? If so, can you provide your browser and computer specifics?

                              Morning Matt,

It just did it for me on the demo site. Win 10 PRO, Chrome Version 85.0.4183.121 (Official Build) (64-bit). If you want to see it happen on my machine send me a private message and maybe we can remote in. It was also doing it on my home computer, same configuration. Both of these have a browser add in ROBOFORM password manager. If you think this is just related to my specifics we can drop it and wait to see if anyone else reports.

I do have a question about how to enable the homepage newsletter sign up box with Mailchimp in Shadows 2.0. Since Shadows is the default theme and Mailchimp a native module I thought it would change the code. Maybe i missed something, lots of new things to digest!

                              Thanks
                              Earl
