Replace Shadows Shop All to display its Hamburger slide out animation menu option?

Can Shadows "Shop All" navigation be replaced to always display its "Hamburger" slide out animation menu option (e.g.: Amazon, Walmart, etc.)?

    If so, how?

I'm sure I've seem a Miva site somewhere using this concept, but I can't recall which one.
    Thank you, Bill Davis

    Hi Bill,

Not currently. For something like that you would need to replicate the Levels menu or the Colossus Omega Menu.

Matt Zimmermann what drives the data-hook="open-main-menu" - I'm assuming it's somewhere in the javascript? Is the javascript looking for a specific screen size? Could that be tweaked?

Just sort of thinking out loud. What Bill is asking for really sounds kinda neat. Have you considered it as an option?

Yes Leslie, that is controlled via screen and JavaScript. Alternate navigation structures are planned as extensions, but none have been firmed up yet.

Unless I am missing something the "Hamburger" slide out animation menu option already exists in Shadows (transfiguration). All I want to do is use the existing transfigured version display option instead of Shop All.

          Example:

            Hi Bill,

You are correct, that animation and functionality is already there. However, it is not available on larger screens where the full menu is displayed. To make it accessible on all screens, you would have to modify the CSS, JavaScript and, probably, the navigation set HTML to make it work.

              That sounds very complicated.

So we essentially can't switch from Levels to latest Shadows ReadyTheme even if we wanted to. It feels like we are stuck in a legacy ReadyTheme ditch with no options due to number of base categories we have, and Colossus is not an option due to negative navigation and search UI/UX our focus group had.

              What are our options?

"What are our options?" you'll likely need to hire a developer who can implement it for you. It's not too difficult to to modify Shadow's existing navigation to implement the functionality you're asking for. However, as Matt said, it might be easier just to use an existing theme's nav that you already like and incorporate it into Shadows.

Shadows 2+ is a great ReadyTheme, perhaps I am reading too much into this but the fact that Miva has made it part of its core software sounds very promising to me. Shadows 2.0 adoption of certain foundation principles will make it easier for its front-end to start catching-up and best leverage without question the most agile and robust backend ecommerce platform in the industry. I believe we can all expect some very exciting things to come with regards to Miva’s frontends, I just hope we don’t have to wait till Shadows 3.0 to see it.

Shadows transfiguration hamburger slide out animation menu option for mobile would work great for desktops which is what we are seeking and its what most shoppers are a costumed to, both mobile and desktops.

I thought I had seen a Miva site that solely uses the Shadows transfiguration hamburger slide out animation menu option for mobile on desktop, and therefore erroneously assumed it was something relatively simple to do.

I conversed with Bill a bit via PM. If there was any confusion... He basically just wants to maintain the mobile flyout menu on desktop. He wants to keep a nav bar on desktop with a "Shop All" link that would open the nav. I told him how I would go about doing it – which would require editing the transfigure-navigation extension, and creating an additional navigation set. I'll probably end up making this myself as I'm interested as well, unless someone has an existing solution.

Basically looking to replicate Amazon's navigation solution.
