    Educational Sessions and More

Welcome to the New Conference Forum!

How cool is this? I know some of you are probably not excited about creating a forum, but hey, I have a low threshold for excitement.

I do have some news that I want to update for you. I?ve updated (well, Dave updated, but I gave him the information) the Educational Sessions page. Currently there are still some TBA?s as far as speakers, we actually have people for those sessions and we?re just waiting on a few final confirmations before we post their name. We also have a couple of sessions that are not yet on there, but we're keeping them a secret (okay, we're waiting on final confirmation of the speakers, but don't mystery sessions sound more fun?).

I am pointing out the sessions because I would like to point to a slight shift in this year?s conference than in previous years. We are trying to gradually expand the scope and focus of this and future Conferences. Yes, our goal is still to show what you can do with MIVA Merchant and our other products; but we are trying to expand into more general information for anyone involved in e-commerce. I have worked to create a diverse and interesting set of speakers and topics.

I hope to see all of you this August and September? and remember, the price for the Delegate Pass increases after Sunday!

Okay, I am off to HostingCon for a few days... but before I left I gave Dave the final updated info and bios for our speakers. He is currently updating the page to include information on our speakers.

We have an amazing Keynote Speaker. As soon as the contract is signed (legal is looking at it) we'll be announcing it. I have been pushing my boss as much as I can to try and get this signed and set up so we can tell you, because you are going to be very excited. I am serious, I can't believe we got this person!

So, if you are at HostingCon, I'll see you there, otherwise, I'll talk to you all soon!

Oh and buy those tickets, because I am upping the price on Monday... no more extensions!

William, is there any update on the keynote speakers yet?

If they get the person who I've heard they were talking to - it should be very interesting. I won't spill the beans - I believe MIVA legal is still working on the details and contract, but keep your fingers crossed. If everything goes well, it will be a really good keynote.

We are just waiting on the contracts. Trust me, William and I are both very anxious to get the information out to you, but if we were to say something and the contract fell through... (Yeah, I'm a pessimist.)

There are also a few sponsors I would love to be able to announce, but can't until we get the agreements signed.

I know it's looming close, but trust me on this, the keynote speaker is well worth the wait.

I know, we can have a Guess the KeyNote Speaker content...I vote for:

Jeff Bezos (he's heard the posts "...feature like Amazon.com" too many times and is just buying Miva Merchant)

            or

Scott McNeely (well, Sun's just not doing well these days).

            or

            ....

Well, Bruce, if you did run a little side bet with a few people, you will hear your answer today. Any minute now. We're just waiting on James to make the "big announcement"!

(Needless to say, both William and I are beyond excited.)

I am so glad to be able to tell people about this, you all have been asking and asking and we couldn't say until now. Just in case you wanted to see a little more about his book:

Anne Holland of MarketingSherpa? Sweet! I met her and Stefan Tornquist (Research Directory) at their Email Marketing Summit and Selling Subscriptions on the Internet conferences in Chicago and New York this year.

Yep, that's the same Anne Holland, Jason. And don't forget Michael Gerber.

The goal of this year's conference was to move towards the ecommerce and marketing side of an online store and our keynotes definitely do just that!
