    Things to do

    So..

This year my girlfriend and I are looking for some things to do while in SD. We have been to Old Town many times. Been to the zoo. Visited Coronado and La Jolla.

What are some of the really cool, but lesser known things to do there.. anyone?

    Thanks

Here's a list of some ideas...

    1. Gaslamp Quarter at night for dinner, drinks, and dancing.
    2. Mission Bay for water activities, like kayak or water ski rentals, parasailing, SeaWorld. There's also a classic wooden roller coaster at Belmont Park.
    3. Balboa Park for lots of Museums and Art.
    4. Venture down south to Tijuana. Just about 20 mins. from downtown.
    5. Scour some of the Antique shops on Adams Avenue in North Park/Normal Heights.
    6. Drive up to Del Mar and go to the horse races. They run up to early September.
    7. Go up north to some of the coastal beach towns, like Encinitas or Solona Beach. Visit the seaside bazaar. Drive along the 1 highway.

      Bowling?

Bowling has been mentioned a couple of times. I'm not a poker player so I might want to go bowl instead. Would any of the "locals" be willing to tell me the closest (or better) bowling center is that would also have available lanes? I figure most centers are starting up their fall leagues about the time we are there so lane availability may suck.

Sounds like this Gas Lamp quarter is the place to go for bars and fun huh? We have something similar in Tampa where there's a good ten straight blocks of bars and clubs.
