    Miva Conference or Yahoo Stores?

Hi Miva and users. I'm looking to start an ecom store to sell my exotic game meats and jerkys from my real shop and was told by a friend to check you guys out since you do online stores for people that wish to sell their goods on the internet. Is there a good reason for a "newbie" like myself to use Miva over Yahoo store? From what I can see in the forum it looks hard becuae you have to set up more stuff. Any body else sell meat that is going to San Diego for the show? The conference looks good and fun. I might go there to learn more about Miva and to talk about selling my meat and get ideas from other that do it. I really don';twant to budget 100+ per month on this. Can I do this? I know the conference is more thatn that i mean the cost of putting my store on the internet. Who do I call? Thank you in advanc, Chas Exotic Meats, Rockaway

Honestly, if you are just looking for a "get your feet wet" experiance, you might want to look at MIVA's FastTrack product offerring. Simplier, faster to implement, but yes, somewhat limited.

Yahoo stores are ok for a quick dip, however, I find their restrictions to be too limiting.

If you are not well versed in things like HTML, Web issues and e-commerce in general, i personally would recommend hiring assistance from either an "intergrator" or developer. Many are lurking around this forum.

        Hi Chas,

I see you have a real shop - and are now branching out into e-commerce. That's a great and exciting move, and this is the right place to learn about many of the aspects of an online business. I really recommend coming, and believe you'll find the investment in the conference to truly be an investment in your business.

The conference is always good and fun and there's a lot to learn here about how to build your online store. But I think even more interesting and fun will be listening to Michael Gerber talk about building your whole business as an entrepreneur and Anne Holland about marketing your business online.

I think the primary difference past attendees will see at this conference is an interesting shift in our philosophy - instead of giving you instruction on how to build a better online store, we aim to provide you with real and useful information on how to build a better online business. So it's more of a "Small Business" conference than a "MIVA" conference.

I can't wait to see Michael Gerber in person - his book changed the way I looked at my own small business (Copernicus, previously a MIVA partner), and how I look at our business today (MIVA). I truly believe the two keynote speakers are worth ten times the investment in a conference pass.

I hope to see you there!

Good point...I too found Michael's book a revelation, or at least a reafirmation of what we've been preaching to our clients for years. Michael, however, seems to have put it much more eloquently and in terms that almost any person can grasp.
