So what happened at the conferece?

Would anyone like to share with us -- the unfortunate souls who could not attend -- the highlights of the conference?
Personally, I am particularly interested in hearing what Miva might have announced about their product roadmap -- new features, improvements, updates, etc.

    thanks,

I think my class on installing some of the most popular third party modules was the highlight. :) Well okay, maybe not, but yes, there was a session on the product roadmap, unfortunately I wasn't able to attend that one so someone else will have to post a summary.

      10 Hosting Myths

The 10 Hosting Myths session was good. Vic you need to get that presentation written up. It will be a great piece to refer the poor unfortunate souls that wind up with a less than MIVA-savvy host to.

        Michael Gerber

...was worth the price of admission! Anybody want to sponsor me so I can attend his Dreaming Room session?

Thank you Leslie. I did receive a lot of positive feedback from both attendees and the MIVA staff regarding my presentation.

I've been asked to provide my powerpoint presentation for inclusion on MIVA's website, which I should have to them by early next week.

I'm going to add some of the detail that was in my content but not in the slides.

Michael Gerber was awsome :) Definately gives any business owner something to think about.

I didnt spend much time in other seminars, but I must say the Web Host roundtable and Development Roundtable produced positive results. I like the openess of the staff and their ideas for moving forward.

I was a little bogged down with work (EWTN) related issues and missed a few of the sessions I wanted to hear. I liked the Developer Q&A session even though I'm not a coder - I got some great insight from those that are.

Thanks again for being a great trivia question!

I gave my usual Shopability Session - offering to put users' sites on the hot seat, I stayed over an hour to accomodate everyone.

My Online Security session brought a lot of feedback. I thought we were going to need an EMT on standby when I talked about how vulnerable wireless networks are when not configured properly. The next day several people came to me to tell me how many unsecured connections they found from others staying at the hotel. It was scary! It was no shock to me, but my bet is some users called the office to instruct someone to "lock 'er down right now."

I think my session on Virtual Private Servers had pretty good amount of interest (room was full), especially considering how many new clients emailed us and signed up this week for new VPS accounts. Not exactly MIVA-related stuff, but it looks like it was well received and there's plenty of interest in this option.

Oh... Stephen's session on MIVA Merchant v5 Tips & Tricks didn't get quite as many people as we expected, considering all the emails we received prior to the conference, but I blame this one on poor scheduling (sorry Julie!). None of the sessions were labelled properly and noone knew what time exactly which session was at. Everything was listed as "between 1:45 and 5:30" but sessions were in 30 to 60 minute slots, 5-6 per room, yet nothing was labelled when individual sessions were going to take place. Stephen's session was originally supposed to be at 3pm, then someone from MIVA took over the room and that pushed the session back to 5pm, and by that time very few people stuck around to attend. Too bad. We had free cocktails and played games for an hour, it was lots of fun. Okay, there were no cocktails, the hotel staff would have probably had a fit, but we still had fun.

It sounds great. Can any one fill us in on announcements made at the conference?
