I've updated the Emporium Plus Tool Kit, Sort Shipping Plus Free Shipping Option, and Mini-basket Display modules to use the new shipping rules API. These updates were necessary to incorporate the new shipping rules into the shipping calculator which many stores have installed on non-checkout pages so customers could preview shipping charges prior to checking out. IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO USE THE NEW BUILT-IN SHIPPING RULES, YOU DO NOT NEED TO UPDATE THESE MODULES.
That said, the shipping rules implementation is very nice so you'll probably find yourself using them sooner or later. If you are wondering what those new rules do, click the + to the left of Shipping Settings. Then click Shipping Rules below the Shipping Settings. Then on the right, click the Shipping Method Rules tab. Poke around. I think you'll find these options very helpful. Then click on the Products link in the left menu. Click the edit button for one of your products. There is a Shipping Rules tab that lets you configure more rules at the individual product level.
The module update links are on the master index page at http://www.emporiumplus.com/tk3/v3/doc.htm Click the "U" to the left of the module you are wanting to update. If it has been less than 60 days since you last bought/updated the module, use my "contact us" form to get the update free. You will need to supply the previous order number and domain name the update is going into.
