Perhaps. But if one goes into a thread because of the title, and sees stuff they're not interested in, will they read on and bring it back on topic? 50-50.

Love how this trailed into a totally different topic. Pricing is taking over all the forums. So if you're reading this and want some insight on boosting sales and visibility, sign up to get a call with me. :-)
Okay, back to whatever you guys want to talk about...

BTW, get a quote to host Magento Enterprise at Rackspace on something similar to the hardware we use, it'll run you $4k a month+ on a three year contract (just for hosting).Last edited by Rick Wilson; 10-08-15, 08:28 AM.

Re: Get a Free 30-minute Call with Me
That will be fantastic. I had a "lightbulb" moment this morning. In my case, it happened reading a reply that Bruce had made to one of my Twitter posts which brought me back to what I had found when looking at the Magento pricing. I realized it was just for the application, you still had to find your own hosting for it. So with Magento, you will have to distinct bills, one for the application and one for hosting. Most people are seeing this as an increase in hosting costs (probably because of the increased space and bandwidth). I also remembered that when their was a higher number of hosts that offered Miva Merchant, Miva Merchant hosting was priced higher than "standard" hosting. Perhaps the answer is to break the two out into separate line items on the bill?Originally posted by Pamela Hazelton View PostI plan to write a detailed post about this, because many people are being steered the wrong way.

I'm here to urge you on with Bruce, Pamela! Keep up the great work!Originally posted by Bruce - PhosphorMedia View PostPlease do Pamela. Though it will be a voice in the wilderness, at least its a voice.
Far, far, far too many people think "FREE" means without cost. In fact, "free" is just a different type of payment plan.

Re: Get a Free 30-minute Call with Me
Thanks. Unfortunately, I get shot down in lots of other forums about my opinion on this. People really love the word free, even if it winds up costing a heck of a lot more. Something I should blog about on my own site, since no one can shut me up there. :-)Originally posted by jsdva View PostGreat points and information for others to think about when they consider WooCommerce, Pamela! People are embracing WooCommerce, even though it's not compliant, is a nightmare to manage, and has a plethora of issues. I also researched it further for a few folks who begged me to - seems like developers and "implementers" are pushing quotes for "real" ecommerce via WordPress at starting points of $10k.

You and Bruce are spot on, Leslie. That is exactly what I've found as well. Quite a scary alternative for an e-commerce site in my opinion.Originally posted by lesliekirk View PostThat includes any sort of plug-in that can be added to WordPress. IMHO anyone using WordPress as a store is asking for trouble.

I avoid Open Source because of the costs and time involved. In my experience, Open Source costs more, and carries more liability.Originally posted by wajake41 View PostHi Pamela:
My preference would be an open source (PHP) ecommerce site that can be purchased. Know of any that you might recommend?
