    Insider domain name snatching probed

    Dear All,

Awhile back there was a Thread about domain names being taken between the time they were checked and the time they went to go register them.

Here is a story on Yahoo today:

By ANICK JESDANUN, AP Internet Writer

NEW YORK - The Internet's key oversight agency is investigating suspicions that insider information is being used to snatch desired domain names before an individual or business can register them.

The Security and Stability Advisory Committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers termed the practice "domain name front running" and likened it to a stock broker buying or selling shares ahead of a client's trade, in anticipation of a movement in price.

    Why not?

I got the ecommerce-retail domain name and GoDaddy made me a cash offer over the phone within 6 hours. I bought it the instant I saw it, so no one ever had a chance to fronrtun me.

If you see a great domain name, don't hesitate. They don't have "options" on domain names.

Are the people who have already registered "mivaskins" frontrunning? They're not using the domain and it has a "for sale" sign on it.
