    Re: Miva Merchant 5.5 Dream Features

    Sorry if this already brought up... What about the ability to work on the site in the background, yet nothing new changes to live until you tell it to. Im no expert, but a tweak here and a tweak there going live at each update for all too see if not right freaks me out...

    Another is, in 4 we had a section that showed all who was logged in (3rd party peeps, admins, etc...By IP and all. is this in 5 as i cant see it if it is?. if not, that would be great to see again.

    Ok ill shut up for now

      Using your IP address, you can do this.

      <mvt:if expr="s.Remote_Addr IN '67.190.123.123'">

      ...Hidden code goes here...

      </mvt:if>

      You can find your ip address here http://remote.12dt.com/

      You can even use a comma separated list of IP addresses if you need to show it to someone else.

        This would be expecially helpful for the invoice page so you would not have to run an order through to see your work.

        Hey wcw you should write this module. I'd be buying bulk licenses.

          Thank ya ray.... Still would be nice to have that in admin for quick and easy access instead of having to jump threw hoops to achieve it.

          Thanks for the tip though..

            If you have the tool kit, you can already preview the INVC screen using the "pastorders" function. He has details here: http://www.emporiumplus.com/merchant..._Code=1AA00223

              Would that method also work on a "one page checkout" setup.
              If so, do tell more....

                A 1 page checkout should still end on the INVC screen. The tool kit function I referenced allows you to show the INVC screen using an older order number, so the checkout process should not matter. The only thing to note that I didn't mention before is you have to be logged in to an account and you can only look at orders that your account is associated with.

                          In a previous description of changes to Miva Merchant I find

                          Module: Import Categories from Flat File
                          Categories may no longer be imported with blank codes or names.

                          <Mv:Rant>Why the heck is the category name field required!? I just tried to import SEO data Meta Descriptions etc. and it won't import because I did not include the name field. Can this be changed?
                          </Mv:Rant>

                          Very frustrating...

                            IMO the entire setup of it is confusing.... Allot of room for error and for something to go wrong...

                              Actually I use blank categories once in a while.

                              I do like that a blank one shouldn't be able to be created upon a mass import. But, You shouldn't have to import a category name if one already exists. Maybe a person is only updating some seo or custom fields like ray pointed out. Then category code alone should be sufficient. Everything in the databases is tied to the codes and underlying rowid info, so actual names shouldn't be required unless they're being changed or listed as a field that is being imported.

                              It would be nice to see a list of 'un imported' or 'un updated' or 'skipped' categories or products too. That way we can find the flaws in the data we're trying to import.

                                It seems this has been overcome with the upcomming Wombat version of Merchant.
