Remove Shipping Charge for "Cancelled" Orders

When we have a customer request to cancel an order we cancel all products within that order rather than just deleting the entire from the Order Processing screen.

In Order Processing, shipping calculations seem to adjust when quantities are modified or new products added, but it seems that if all products in an order are cancelled the shipping charge still remains. It would seem logical to have the shipping charge become $0. if all products in an order are cancelled. Currently we make a manual second shipping entry that says "order cancelled" and we give it a negative cost to match and wash out the original shipping cost.

You can Edit (Remove) shipping, taxes or other charges on the Order Processing screen. The button is right below the invoice total. Cancel the products then remove shipping, etc., so invoice totals $0.

Would be nice if it was done automatically.

razertip thanks for the reply. Yes, that's what we currently are doing, using the Edit Shipping/Taxes/Other Charges button to zero out those shipping costs.

It seems however that since shipping costs are being dynamically adjusted when orders are modified (Add Items button) that is should also be able to automatically remove those shipping charges if all products are cancelled. Sort of trivial, but it's a "makes life easier" thing. :)

Is the end goal of removing the shipping charges here just for reporting purposes?

We use the Order Processing screen for fast simple customer order lookup (not it's intended use, I know.) I'll often filter the order list by customer to assist with phone orders or customer questions, and being able to spot cancelled orders by seeing an order total of $0.00 in the filtered list is very helpful.

Also, just for the sake of continuity, it seems beneficial to have the order total reflect the amount captured - if we cancel an order/shipment and captured zero on that order then it would make sense for the order total to reflect that.
