Centralized Upgrades for 3rd Party Modules

Would love to have it so you can check for updates to 3rdparty modules directly in the modules page, so you don't have to go diving into 47 different areas of the admin to find out if there is a new version of a module. Like WordPress: where you can see, filter, and update all plugins right from one screen.

Then in a perfect dream world, you could upgrade the modules just by clicking a button like WordPress and the Miva Upgrade button.

That would require that Miva release and document their streaming update functionality to 3rd party module developers. Not going to hold my breath.

It's most likely on their To Do List, just not a priority at this moment in the grand scheme of things.

One of the many things I have learned over the years, is that often times these "projects" can't be quickly implemented due to a multitude of factors across a wider area than we initially perceive. Thus, requiring greater research, planning, coordination, implementation, testing, etc., no different than building a house. I suspect this particular enhancement is no different and as much as we all would like to see this happen, we can all think of other substantive enhancements that leads to conversions which is what pays everyone bills in this business -but it wold be nice to have ;)

Yes, this wouldn't just be a "upload 3rd party module here" task. Miva would have to create an entire ECOSYSTEM for modules as they would need infrastructure and processes to vet the security and safety of the module (malware and introducing vulnerabilities), PCI compliance and probably testing the module itself as they would have some liability in its functionality at that point. Other systems get away with this because, well, they just are not as secure in the first place. :)

That being said, yes it would be good to have this. At the very least, it would be good to go back to having limited beta releases to devs so we can pre-test our modules before release and if needed, get our warnings into Miva's system.
