Not super helpful for everyone, but the way to exclude from native search is to add a custom field and then set that custom field as a facet. Add that facet value as a hidden input on the search forms.

I totally agree and for all of his modules. Bill's modules were great and offered all of the bells and whistles we wanted/needed at the time.
What I am running into is that a lot of the WCW modules are tied to one another so removing them one at a time is really difficult. I am finding that I am having to work backwards.
I know everyone at Miva is tired of hearing this name, as am I, but there was a thread for the Sebenza modules for this same reason :)

I almost think we should start a How-to thread just for converting from Power Search to the native search. There seem to be all sorts of little things that Bill did that made it rather easy to configure. But there are a few things that are making it hard to move away from it. Perhaps if a list of must-have items were compiled it might help make improvements to the native search.

Exclude Products from Miva's Native Search
Being able to exclude products from Miva's Native Search would be extremely helpful. We migrated from Power Search because it is no longer supported and that is a feature we miss.
In Power Search we were using the following in the Description field to accomplish that.
<!-- miva_nodisplay //-->
We have products that are exclusive to certain customers, others that only we want our Customer Service Reps to use and in addition I think we all have test products in our stores that we don't want to be displayed in search results.
