Add Note to Template Versions AFTER the its updated.

There are many times we make template changes and then forget to add a note as to what was changed. Could an "Add Note" feature be added as an indepentant function of the Template Version system?

Yea, sure, we can just update the current template with "Add Note" but this would eliminate the additional templates version one has to drudge through.

Bruce - PhosphorMedia If you use our command line tool MMT, you will be forced to add a note when you push up changes. Using the feature is recommended for an optimized development workflow.

Using MMT you can also add "Tags" to your changes so you they will all be grouped and easier to locate.

Why not simply add an administrative rule or option requiring to do so, and include User ID while you are at it?
      Thank you, Bill Davis

There is an option to add a note on a template when updating in the admin, it is just not required because it is not necessary for the everyday admin user. Also, all changesets are recorded with the user who made the changeset, just the note is not required via the admin.

Typically developers are the ones making the template updates which is why we introduced MMT as it is a better workflow for developers.

          Nick.,

I think William has an excellent idea.

While its true that some of our clients don't make template changes (why they hired us:) ) quite a few do--albiet typically minor updates such as adjust some value in a SMT script we've created, or just content.

It doesn't seem to hard to add this to preferences, and it posses no burden to non-template editors (i.e., you can default to off).

We'll keep this in mind, next time we do an admin refresh for that portion of the software, unless Nick determines this is a Minor Change Request (my hunch is it's not, but I'm not actually sure). So most likely it'll be a while if we touch this.
