I would like to start accumulating a list of reason why some look for a service, I hope this will help others in understanding the reason for choosing one service over another.for example for this one:

Hi Abe,

I really only see two reasons for a colocation:
1. Migration of existing hardware (for example from inhouse into a datacenter)
2. Reduced costs when you need a non-standard or complex system architecture. Here the prices of hosting companies sometimes really explode - even to unreasonable and not justifyable levels (maybe because of the assumption that when someone needs such a huge or complicated setup, this must be a big business, so let's charge them accordingly).

Example: A few years ago Verio sent me a proposal for a fault tolerant setup of two application servers and two database servers plus routers and asked for over $30000/month.

Aside from that there are very few reasons that justify colocation, IMO.
