MIVA and WordPress Integration

Bruce, I don't think he was wanted to use WordPress as the eCommerce platform but to use it as the "landing page" and CMS, with Miva handling all the products and store activities. Yes, Scot's Blogger is a great option. Yes, the security issues are real with WordPress if not properly managed.

Understand that part, my point was...what's the point. Doing that is twice the work, unless your "store" is going to look completely different from your 'landing pages', which, IMO, is not very good in terms of customer experiance. If the attraction to WP is to actually have a blog, then, that's why I mentioned Scotsblogger...it has all the basic features needed for a blog. If the WP is going to be used as a 'CMS', then 1) there are probably better CMS systems than WP and 2) you can use Scotsblogger for that as well, or use the "hidden category with sub-cats" method.

Again, just my opinion...and yes David, I forgot to mention that if you used the iframe method, the Miva site should be on a subdomain.

A second option, make Wordpress the primary site, run Miva Merchant on a subdomain, such as store.<domain>. It is really critical that Wordpress and your payment application (Miva Merchant in this case) do not share the same web space; it is a huge security risk because a hacked copy of Wordpress running on the same site can effectively bypass security measures of other applications on that site. That can lead to liability issues should such a compromise occur; it just isn't worth it.

Seriously. Word Press is not a plausible eCommerce platform. Its not that hard to make a miva site look appropriate for your product line, and if the learning curve is too step, affordable help is available (post in for hire forum). If you still need a blog, there is a Miva-Based blog system (that's probably better in many ways -- specifically SEO wise) available from scotsscripts.com.

if your dead set on using miva just as the cart system the easiest method would be to call it into an iframe from the WP site. That would still mean significant changes to the original templates in Miva...probably more than just starting with a Miva ReadyTheme and adding some additional design elements.

I have seen few topics on this forum regarding this topic but haven't found a clear way.

I need to use WordPress for everything like Pages, Posts, Design, etc, and MIVA as Shopping Cart only, with products within my MIVA account.

What's the best and easiest way to do it ?
