Wordpress & Miva

We need to setup a Wordpress blog. I have found a couple of posts about setting up Wordpress on a Miva site but they are a couple of years old. One of the previous posts I read indicated installing Wordpress on a subdomain - however, we would like to have it in a subdirectory instead for better SEO benefits. The reason for setting it up on a subdomain was for security - is there a way to set it up in a subdirectory that doesn't put more risk on the Miva part of the site? Has anyone successfully done this?

IMO, the current recommendation for having a blog UNDER your domain is to use Scotsblogger from Scotsscripts.com. No integration issues or hassles as it uses an actual Miva page template and no security issues.

Our staff can install it in a manner where it appears to be part of the main site but exists in a separate subscription on the server in question; this ensures the Wordpress files cannot access or alter any files associated with the primary site. This setup does require it appear under a subdirectory, so it cannot be the content at the root of the website in such a configuration.

The description of Scotsblogger doesn't list colossus. "CSSUI, Boostrap (Base Readytheme, Prepworx, Retro), and CornerstoneUX (Suivant, Optics, Iron & Wool, Coustic) Miva Merchant Frameworks". When you use the editor in Scotsblogger is it using it's own css or does it use css from the installed frameowork? Would it be compatible with Colossus?

Colossus css is the same as Shadows and there is template code that supports it. You'll find download links and instructions in the install docs. The description on the apps store might be a little bit out of date.

As noted, it uses its own page template, so you make it look exactly like your store or not. Personally, while I might keep the main components of the Store's branding (and perhaps user information like logged in status and cart). I think it's better sometimes to make it look slightly different.
