    Miva Friendly SEO Professionals

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Miva savvy SEO expert/team? It seems that all the ones the store owners I work with don't have hands-on experience with Miva and don't have anything good to say about the platform. Usually, the first major recommendation is to rebuild a site in another platform.

yea, that's the first sign that the person you are talking to don't know sh*t about seo. has nothing to do with the platform. that's what you're for.

lesliekirk , have they implemented all of the basic SEO strategies?

          Examples: Unique and Substantive Keyword and Phrase;
          • HTML Title tag for every pages
          • HTML Description meta tag
          • Rich Snippets
          • Etc.
          • Implement Google
            • Analytics
            • Tag Manager
            • Search Console
            • Merchant Center
These strategies are essential prior to contracting an SEO specialist, and you can help them implement the code to all this.

Yes, yes, and yes. They have been online since 1997 and have kept up with all of the above. It's just been perhaps in the past 12 months that they have started sliding in Google. Then they updated from Bootstrap design to the Colossus ReadyTheme. The initial Google response to the site launch was positive. Then as all the new demands from Google started coming out. Trying to make Colossus comply at about the same time the site was updated to MM10 might have triggered something. I noticed an issue with the branches along with a few other things that were MM10 specific but the timing just seemed a bit coincidental.

In the grand scheme of things, if I had enough hours in the day, I probably could handle a large majority of this, but as Sabine pointed out, a good copywriter and a social media manager are also needed.

Good copy is essential after all the basics have been implemented and social media helps.

I would consider double checking all the things I previously suggested has not been altered in someway before I getting experts involved. Best experts in the world would be of little use is the essentials are off even by a little bit.

Once everything has been double checked, I would try tweaking one category and 10% of the products withing the tweaked category internally to see what happens first before bringing in "Thee Experts", and carefully monitor changes (before and after).

Would it be possible to PM me a link so I can take a quick look to see if I spot anything obvious?

Therein lies the rub - one issue was with applying a ReadyTheme in a branch - it wiped out some customized page title tags.
