    jQuery/Datepicker and Shipping Customization

We have installed jQuery Datepicker for use on the Shipping/Payment Screen to allow the customer to select a Desired Arrival Date for their order. (See attached) However, the date is currently not tied to the shipping options. So if someone selects tomorrow's date, they can choose free ground shipping, which of course, isn't possible since ground shipping is 3-5 business days. We know this will be a major problem for the upcoming busy holiday season.
We would like the date selected in the Datepicker to affect the shipping options that become available. The shipping options in the dropdown are generated by the Fedex module. We are using the Emporium Plus Order Custom Fields and Sort Shipping Plus Free Shipping Option modules. If tomorrow's or the second day's date is selected, only overnight shipping would show. If the 3rd day is selected, only Express Saver would show. If the 4th or later days are selected, then only ground would show. Also, if an order is placed after 1:30pm, the customer should no longer be able to choose tomorrow's date. After 1:30pm, the shipping selections should change as if it was the following day.Does anyone have the ability to accomplish this? If so, what would be the cost and turn around time? Of course, if there is a better or simpler way to accomplish this we are open to that as well.Miva Merchant 5.5

    Re: jQuery/Datepicker and Shipping Customization

You need to account for weekends and holidays too, wouldn't you?

We've done something similar but not exactly the same. It actually related to having to send estimated delivery date for the Google Trusted Stores javascript code, but using the same parameters to affect the elements in the dropdown would work in a similar manner. PM and I'm happy to talk through it with you.

        Re: jQuery/Datepicker and Shipping Customization

Thank you for the replies. I just had a very long conversation with my client, and we came to the conclusion that this is probably going to be too complicated to implement. When we started going over all the possible scenarios we had to account for, zip code of the recipient also factored in.

So we are going to keep it simple, based on what we use in their current store. We will have the shipping options available using the Emporium Plus Free Shipping Plus Sorting module and Fedex's module: Free Ground Shipping, Express Saver, 2nd day, Priority Overnight and Standard overnight. If the customer chooses Free Ground Shipping, another dropdown will then appear that says Choose a Future Delivery Date. The dropdowns will be manually inputed date ranges of 3-5 days showing the range of possible arrival dates. (See attachment).

If anyone knows a way to have these days auto-generated in the dropdown let me know. They need to change daily at 1:30 pm. Otherwise, we will just manually change them out for the holiday season.
