Adding a blog to a Ready theme

Leslie, that is what I'd really like to do... I've been trying to decipher the miva instructions to do that for quite some time... you make it sound so easy -LOL- to make it look like the rest of my site which is a ready theme is where I get lost. (yes miva is my host but that is a $1500 bill to create the blog).

Yes, there are a few steps involved. You would need to have WordPress on your site. You would need to know how to create a child theme in WordPress (this will be part of creating a matching look & feel). Let me search around for the how-to (if you want to try it).

As for WordPress, do you have access to your My.Miva control panel? You should be able to add WordPress yourself directly from there. You should also be able to redirect the blog directory as a sub-domain from there too. This is were you could reach out to Miva support for bit on an assist. I suspect the $1500 would be to create the matching look & feel.

Or you could circle back and take a look at Scot's Blogger. It becomes part of your store with it's look & feel. Then you don't have to jump through the WordPress child theme hoop. Scot has a few examples of it in use listed on his website. This example is using a ReadyTheme http://www.windwardkites.com/blog.html

I'll third it! It's good stuff. To answer your question about adding a blog as a subdomain - that's doable too. If you decide not to use Scot's Blogger, you could add WordPress. You could install it in a directory called blog, then have a subdomain name pointed to it. If your host is Miva, just drop support an email as ask for assistance. If not, you host should still be able to help you.

I would recommend using the Scot's Blogger module [ https://apps.miva.com/scots-blogger.html ] to add a blog to your site.
