Can't Get it to Publish Site with Maintenance Page & Updated User Guide

When visiting my site at purpleiris.biz, visitors get redirected to http://webapps.myregisteredsite.com/...-redirect.html and all they see is "This site does not exist within the LDAP database." I have been searching for several hours for instructions on how to get my site published because it apparently isn't published at all. Once published, all I want it to show is the Maintenance page, that way visitors can actually see something when they visit my site other than something that tells them it doesn't exist.

I'm currently using Miva 5.5 PR 8 Update 10.1 and none of the instructions I've found match anything on my screen -- whether within Miva's help pages, the User Guide I was provided a link to, or within the forum. So, could somebody please give me detailed instructions on how to activate my site with just the maintenance page showing? I'd also like a link to the User's Guide that actually applies to my version of Miva as the one I was given is to an older version that includes information that does not apply to me.

I'm someone who is self-taught and NEED proper instructions in order to figure all this out without having to pay money I don't have to someone to do this for me -- or leave Miva altogether because of how user-UNfriendly it is. It's ridiculous that it should be this difficult to complete tasks, much less simple ones, because I'm currently paying for a site I can't use or even figure how to use because of a lack of proper instructions and User Guide.

    Thanks in advance.

That sounds like your DNS from your domain registrar isn't pointing at your Miva site. LDAP is a password authentication system that has nothing to do with Miva or your Miva site and it's redirecting you to a page basically saying the item is not found.

So yes none of this would be covered in our docs because it doesn't sound like you're even accessing your Miva site.

Are you hosted with us or somewhere else?

The site is still pointing to Web.com's servers so the redirect is on that end. Are you trying to launch your site on our servers? Your site is already pointing to our name servers so all we need to do to launch on our servers is update DNS so you're live with us. If this is what you're wanting I can take care of it. I found your original ticket when you signed up for hosting and we can handle everything there.

Finally the reference guide at www.mivamerchant.com/referenceguide is up to date and applies to the version you have.

In addition we have tons of free training for people in your shoes but I'd need to know more of what you want to do in order to help you?

Your maintenance message is showing but the background is making the text hard to see. I opened the ticket that was created when you signed up for hosting with us and replied. We can easily get the site launched on our servers today if that's your goal so please reply to that ticket with what you're wanting to accomplish. Thank you.

Re: Can't Get it to Publish Site with Maintenance Page & Updated User Guide

Thanks, Jim. I thought we had taken care of that back then. I had to buy the URL from them and then went into that account and changed what I was told to change so I could get it set up here and I was told by Miva that everything was good to go. I sure hope that doesn't mean Web.com is playing games with my domain account. I wouldn't put it passed them after I paid gobs of money just to get the runaround over there.

Anywho, I'll go look for the support ticket. I'd really like to stay with Miva because of all of the options that are given, but I have never had so much trouble trying to learn a system in all my life. LOL So, hopefully the new User Guide will help get things moving.

P.S. -- I just added that background image because I'm trying to get things set up, but will go remove it. Although, I should be able to work on my site while I make changes to it, right? I had the maintenance mode turned on, but then turned it off, so do I need to turn it back on? If so, are the changes I make to the global template going to still affect what visitors see on the maintenance page?

            Thanks again.

The last reply we sent you in the ticket in May specified that you'll need to call or email us when you're ready to "go live" or launch the store. The email address you used for the ticket is the same one you're using for this forum account so you should have received my reply from the ticket already.
