    Category Navigation Tree Missing

The last major MIVA update, similar to 10, I can't remember but maybe it was MIVA 5? Anyway, in that upgrade, MIVA got rid of the logical Category Navigation Tree but realized soon after it was necessary and added it back in a following patch. Testing MIVA 10 in Dev, it appears this functionality is once again not available.

We have 6 main categories, roughly 150+ sub categories and roughly 2700 various sub categories under those, sometimes going out 6-7 sub categories. It is critical to be able to view our Category Navigation in a logical way, not simply every Category in one.

    Example: Wheels/Rims > Dodge/Ram > Ram 3500 > Ram 3500 (DRW) > 1994-2018 Ram 3500 DRW

It appears to add a product to "1994-2018 Ram 3500 DRW", I have to either navigate to this page on our website and determine what the category code is and then search for it in the Admin, or I have to go to the Admin, start with the main category, then go to Child Categories, then Child Categories again, and again, and again. Either way I can't get a good snap shot of what our Category Tree looks like and finding a specific category is cumbersome in either option.

    Thank you.

Yes this category menu hierarchy did not make it into the initial release of Miva 10. However we are exploring ideas on how to best add it back in. I would love to hear more about how you used it. How often, suggestions for improvements, etc.

We're likely not going to represent it as a flyout menu like before, so we're exploring ideas to represent this data in a better way but still show the category hierarchy.

      Brennan,
Thank you for the reply. Example, I want to add a simulator product to our Dodge Ram 3500 page https://www.hubcaphaven.com/c/7916/d...s_hubcaps.html. Keep in mind, starting out with adding the product, I don't know this is the actual page I will need to add the product too without navigating to it. I just know I want to add a product to a final destination.

Option 1 : Navigate all the way to that page on our website and find that it is category 7916, this takes 5 clicks through our site. Then go search that in the Admin.

Option 2: Do a search for Dodge Ram 3500 (understand, with out navigating to the actual page, I don't always know what the ultimate page name is). 4 categories come up under a search for Dodge Ram 3500, none of which are the one I need so this most often is not an option.

Option 3: Go to the site and find the main category number 525, then go to child categories in admin and find 527, then find 7528, then find 7215, then find the category I need which is 7916. Come to find out the category is not named Dodge Ram 3500 but "2019-Current"

With a category tree I can quickly and logically navigate to the category I need without needing to know the exact category name or the category number. We add products daily and without this I can't see how we could upgrade to MIVA 10. I liked the way it used to be many years ago but I'm also good with it's current functionality. Anything that gives me quick insight into the structure of our categories.

      Thanks again.

Any ETA on when this will be added back in? We are a month away from having to upgrade or face penalties and hard for us to upgrade if this is not available.

        Let me know.

        Thank you.
