    What Happened to Version History?

It could be that I just don't know where to look but when editing categories for example (Header/Footer) I don't see the ability to go back to a previous version by choosing an earlier date/time.

Checking some Miva store Pages like CTGY I don't see it there either... unless you know to click in the right corner the hamburger icon TextArea Controls Menu, then you will see an option View Version History and then you can do some more clicking to go back to a previous date/time. It used to be more obvious and easier with a better economy of clicks.

If you go to a store category/product page you can see the created and last updated but how does one go back to a previous date/time?

Note: On store Template pages there is no display of the current version (Created/Last Updated) so from looking at it you can't tell what the date/time of the last update was.

I guess I don't care when those were created since I did not create those but it would be nice to see what the Last Updated date/time was.

The template version history is still there, it just moved. If you click on the hamburger menu (three horizontal bars) on the bottom right of the editor, there will be a "View Version History" option. Click on that and your version history selection overlay will appear.

I see that and mentioned that I see it when looking at some things like Miva template pages (CTGY, PROD, etc.)

But I do not see it when I look at Edit Category, Header and Footer there is no hamburger menu to click and no version date/time is displayed that I can see.

So it appears that the ability to see the current version or roll back to a previous version has been lost (or misplaced) for Category Headers/Footers.

And even with Miva Pages (CTGY, PROD, etc.) when looking at it even the current version date/time is not displayed so how do you know what the date is on those? You have to do a couple clicks just to see the date/time?

In Miva 9 wasn't the version history always display somewhere of templates and Category Headers/Footers?
Click the Version History and you could roll back to a previous date/time. I don't see how to do that in Miva 10.
So if I make a change to a Category Header/Footer and don't like it I don't see a way to roll back.

Even if you click to see the Version History isn't the top most date/time the current version and if so why is that not just displayed by default without having to click something to see it?

I might not want to roll back to a previous date/time but I think I would like to see the date/time of the current version somewhere without having to click things.

Working with Support it is figured out... why I am not seeing the hamburger menu on Category Header/Footers and neither was support until...

For our Category Header/Footers we exclusively use the HTML editor and when the HTML editor is enabled, there is no hamburger menu and no way to get to the version history.
Even the current version is not displayed anywhere and I think it should be and there is plenty of room to do that (it used to in Miva 9).

To see the hamburger menu you must click the box in the right hand corner to enable the Text Editor, reload the page and there comes the hamburger menu.

But now you have lost the HTML editor.

But very awkwardly you can now see the Version History, recall the date/time you want, go back to Preferences, disable the Text Editor, reload the page again and now you have the HTML editor back.

Extremely awkward and not well executed.

The solution I think would be to have the hamburger menu available for versions when the HTML editor is on and the text editor is off (like it used to be in Miva 9).

And why oh why do they not at least display the version date/time of what you are looking at for the moment somewhere on the screen where there is plenty of room to do so.

To see the date/time of my Header takes 5 clicks, two page reloads then go backwards though the process to get back to the HTML editor.

          Hi joseibarra

what html edditor is this? is it a module of some sort?

in my store the category header and footer only have access to the default mmtexteditor and not a html or rich text editor.

Yes - it is a module available here:

            https://apps.miva.com/html-wysiwyg-e...rchant-v5.html

WYSIWYG = What You See Is What You Get

It is based on this editor:

            https://ckeditor.com/ckeditor-4/

It is great for things like Categories Header/Footer and Product detail pages but you can't use on things like Miva template pages (CTGY, PROD, etc.) as it does not understand the Miva SMT Store Morph Technology constructs.

To me, well worth the $95.

If you're using a 3rd party module that hijacks the text editor where we now display the version history... then you've removed the ability to easily see the version history (ie, without going through that painful process you described). You could request the creators of WYSIWYG editor to add their own support for version history into their editor, but I'm not sure what type of luck you'll have with that. We actually have a built in rich text editor (as can be seen on things like Product Description/etc), but as template language does not work with WYSIWYG (because it isn't HTML), templates that support template language generally don't get access to it. The Category Header/Footer templates support template language, and therefore don't have access (even though, in cases like yours where you don't use template language, it wouldn't be a problem).

As for the time stamp, I'm not sure I completely understand. Are you noting the fact that without doing anything (ie, going into the template version history), the current version of the template's time stamp isn't noted? "Plenty of room" is relative. Those who have small displays have complained that there is too much on screen taking up the more important content, and those with larger screens have complained that there isn't enough information filling the white space.

I'll make a note to look into seeing if there is a decent way to display the time stamp for the current version within the template editors that support versions that works across the different screen sizes we support.

I'm hunting for the version history for my OCST page template.
I found the "hamburger" by scrolling WAY to the right of my screen. Way over there! Clicked on the burger and I see the View Version History link. When I click on that link on my Details template, no history link is shown anywhere when I scroll horizontally across my screen.
Is it somewhere else or ?

Nope, it should be where indicated in those screenshots above. Is that overlay showing at all for you?

Also, your really wide editor sounds like you have a saved preference that has pushed the editor out really far. Edit your user and open the Preferences dialog. Using advanced search, set the Preference Name filter to "Like" and set the VALUE to %MMTextEditor.%width then click Search. Delete any matching preferences. Return to the OCST page and see if your editor is normal sized now.

Hey rguisewite: Your suggestion allowed me get the template editor back to a usable state.
                    Thanks.
Do you know of any documentation about what all those other user preferences control?
                    That would be helpful.
                    Thanks again,

The user preferences are primarily from the lists and dialogs. They are things like visible columns, order of columns, width of columns... On things like the order list, the preferences can be the persistent filters (Last 90 days, etc). On dialogs, they're things like dialog positioning and dimensions. The color picker saved colors are stored there. The text editor preferences are also saved there... whether it is in rich text mode or source mode on a given screen, etc. Think of the preferences as a place where your personalized settings can be stored. They're not generally meant to be modified or altered manually, but we have the ability to do so for advanced use cases.
