Since I couldn't get the code fragment to post here, I uploaded it to my website at http://www.wingedseed.com/test/CTGYCodeFragment.txt It's kind of a mess because I've been testing stuff and then commenting stuff out. I limited it to the first part of the body and left out the head and stuff from the old code which is useless to look at unless this stuff at the top works.
How to get Category Custom Fields to work?

I'm getting very frustrated by this whole question. Please someone review my code fragment from the link posted above and tell me what I'm doing wrong! I'm now convinced that the problem is that category custoe fields are broken in Miva 10. My product custom fields work fine, but I don't seem to be able to get the category fields to work at all. At this point I'm considering abandoning them on my current web page and try replace them with some aesthetically less pleasing and only partially functional substitutes. I can probably get my text copied into standard category fields (if they work).
the clock is ticking. If I don't get this mess working in a couple of weeks I'll have to pay Miva another fine for not upgrading.

Earwicker I just sent you a PM. Please read that & I'll help you out. I'm sure most know this, but you cannot use HTML comments to prevent Miva from rendering SMT. HTML comments are for documenting your source code and are not rendered by the browser. <mvt:comment></mvt:comment> is what you're looking for when commenting out SMT.
<!--<mvt:assign name="g.cantcomment" value="'this is text'"/>-->
&mvt:global:cantcomment;
Will still render:
this is text

LOL Ryan, I did too. I mentioned that it's better to see the code in the wild instead of these snippets. I'm concerned that needed coding is being commented out.Originally posted by RTHOMASDESIGN View PostEarwicker I just sent you a PM. Please read that & I'll help you out.
