    Template Branches and Themes

Just wanted to double check before I dive in.

Can I use a different theme in a new branch without any issues on my production theme?

I want to try out colossus. But am currently using shadows.

    Thanks

When you install the new theme to the branch it will also add any categories and products with that theme to the store. If you have changed any of the "core" pages names to something different for example "Wish List" to "Saved Baskets" it with overwrite those with the default Page Names. Those are the only two things that I am aware of that will happen.

      Thank you Leslie.

OK so sounds like I could possibly cause a hiccup in my live store then when I install a new theme in a template branch? I want to be 100% sure I avoid that.

So would best practice to be try in a dev store first?

      Thanks

I think Leslie also had reported issues with Meta tags at the product/category level? If I remembered that correctly you would want to export that data for purposes of reimporting to regain your work in that space. As a matter of practice and CYA, I also backup/export the rest of the custom product/category fields just in case.

Yes, we took a hit with SE due to that.
