Marketing Price Group Entire Category Discount

Having a serious brain fog moment trying to set up a Marketing Price Group. I was thinking there was a way to set up a discount for all products in a discount that get added to the cart. In other words any product that is in the category will get the discount.

Basket Discount - (assign) Qualifying Products (not by category)
Product Discount - apply to the lowest or highest product (not all products in the basket)
Basket Discount Specific Products - assign to product (not by category)

Even the Legacy method that lets you discount from Retail is by product

What am I missing? I need to be able to offer 5% off to around half a website of over 6000 products that are nicely assigned to categories. Please help me lift my WordPress induced fog. Thanks!

    Hey lesliekirk

In Marketing, click the checkbox next to the price group you want to assign. Then click the ellipsis to select "Discounted Categories" to assign it to one or more categories.

Using which Discount method? This is what I see when I do that with these methods

Basket Discount - (assign) Qualifying Products (not by category)
Product Discount - apply to the lowest or highest product (not all products in the basket)
Basket Discount Specific Products - assign to product (not by category)
I want the entire basket to get the discount for products assigned to specific categories

All I am offered with this setting is to assign Qualifying Products

The only one that seems to do this is the "Markup from Cost" - that's not what I need. I want to discount the entire basket of products from Discounted Categories. If I can't do it by categories I'm going to have to assign thousand's of products. Even using a coupon looks to be by product only too.

I use a Product Discount for All Shoppers for my "percent off" promos and am able to assign them to specific categories...

But does that discount apply to ALL of the products in the basket or just the Lowest (or Highest) Priced Line Item? I need the discount of apply to all of products from the category. If I keep the Maximum Item Discount Quantity set at 0 will that apply the discount to the all of the Discounted products in the basket? (If so, the verbiage is very misleading/confusing).

I think that the "Apply Discount To" only affects the Buy/Get Discount type.. I've always been able to set up discounted categories and have all the products from that category be discounted in the basket.

Thanks Psydde delcorsets - now if I could tie the "Sale" flag with this discount

I need to circle back to this because it seems to be an ongoing problem, I have a price group (Product Discount) set up and have applied it to one specific category. The products in that category are getting the discount as expected. If the basket only has products from that category it works perfectly. But if a product from outside that category is added, those products get applied to the basket subtotal which then gives the discount to the product even if it hasn't met the correct threshold. I think this is because the Basket/Qualifying Restrictions is set to Restrict to Basket Subtotal. The Qualifying Subtotal isn't going to work because there are no Qualifying Products assigned (if I understand this correctly). So how does this get set up to ONLY give the discount to products assigned to the category?
