    Multi Parent Categories

I found a thread in Miva 9 forum with same topic but can't get it to work.

I thought I could copy CTGY template and modify it to just show everything from another category. I'm so lost. Any pointers?

FYI - this is the goal:

    1. Create new category as a mirror of existing category
    2. Changes to products included in existing category will be reflected in the new category

To confirm you want to be able to have two different categories and if you remove a product from one category you want it to be removed from both categories?

That is not possible with one click of a button in Miva. There is no way to sync category product data by default. You could probably set up a custom script that would use the Product Data Fields and Feeds module to check when a product has been assigned or unassigned to one of the categories and if so write template code to assign or unassing it to the other.

Why do you want to have two categories with the same products? What are you trying to accomplish with that? There may be a simpler way.

I have a special landing page that I'm loading several categories into. I need these categories to behave a little differently, so I've created duplicate categories. The problem is when these categories need to be updated (like to add or remove products) I have to do each one twice.

I was sure there's a way to just copy the CTGY template and modify it to pull in products from a specific category only. All my attempts at this failed (best I got was it pulled in EVERY product in the store!)

Yes, that's exactly what I want.
BTW - Since you're a moderator, I notice the forum is once again showing my email address. If I click on Profile to try to fix it, it says I'm not allowed to view it. I don't remember what my username was, but I would sure like to stop showing my email address this way! Can you help, or forward this to someone who can?

We also have a new feature called Collections coming very soon that might handle this.
            Thanks,

If you're coming to Camp Miva we'll be showing off Collections in public for the first time, and you'll be able to play with it in our demo area to make sure if works for your needs.
                Thanks,
