Create a Collection from a Category?

lesliekirk Collections can not be created based off a "In a Category" condition. You could create a collection of products that have a specific Canonical Category Code but not if it is in a specific category.

Rather than using the condition of "contains" a specific word it might be better to create a product custom field that has a value that can be checked by a collections condition. Current products can be updated via CSV to include the value and new products can have the value added when inserted in the catalog. This will make sure that the products are all correctly added to the collection.

Can a Collection be created from products assigned to a category? I would like to build a Collection of products assigned to a category using an Advanced Search filter of the Product Name that "contains" a specific word. I need to find an easy way to assign these products to a Price Group.

Or since it's for the Volume Pricing Price group, should I use the volume pricing import (using the CSV file I can export from the Advanced Search filter I created from the product batch list of that category)?
