    Tariff fee on certain products

    Hi,
We have to add a tariff fee on specific products. The amount is 10% of the cost of the product. How can I add this fee so that the amount shows up in the basket separate from the product price? We do not want to just raise the price by 10% in case the amount changes soon as it involves a lot of products.

    Thank you

If there are not a large number of products you could use the new Product Charges & Fees module. You could create a Tariff fee and assign it to the products that need the fee. Unfortunately the module does not have the ability to add a percentage based fee but if there are not a large number of products you could calculate the value and manually set each product tariff fee.

Here is more information on the module: https://support.miva.com/hc/en-us/ar...nd-Fees-Module

      Nick,
I figured out a way to do it by setting up a Price Group with the type as Markup from Cost. We only have to do this for one product line, but it is a lot of items all at different prices, so I need one place to be able to change the percent amount if it changes again for us. I did look at the Product Charges & Fee module and I think it would have worked if you could do a percent.

If anyone else has another idea about a better way to do this that would make the fee its own line item I am open to suggestions!

      Thank you,
      Theresa

I had a store that needs a 25% Markup. So I used the Price Groups Legacy Discount from Retail and used -25.00 - it works just as needed. Products can be assigned to the Price Group.

Scot @ scotsscripts.com also has a Basket Charge module which will allow you to use SMT code to dynamically add such charges. (Note: this is a "developer's" module as you'd need to understand basic SMT coding to use it).

The main advantage to this approach is that you can have this additional fee as a seperate basket line item and lable it as desired.

And does it have the ability not to subject the tariff to sales tax or shipping?

FYI, I also have a module that can apply specialized fees. It's in use by a number of stores. It can apply the fee as a separate line item (BasketCharge). It's very flexible, e.g. to create taxable or tax-free fees. It does require some template coding to set up, but it can provide admin settings to control the fee amounts or percentages. So after it's installed, it's easy for a non-coder to adjust the fees if the rules change.

Its more of a 'developer's' module as all SMT coding power is available. If interested, contact Scot directly.
