Is it possible to import custom fields (for products)?

Is it possible to import custom fields for products? When I try to import data for products, I first go to the import settings and select Add/Update Products from CSV. I select my file. I see my new column for my custom field, however, the custom field does not show in the drop down list of product fields. Do I need to assign it somewhere?

c3idesign Make sure that the custom field is set to public. In order to import the data the custom field needs to be set to "public".
