    Create Family From Disparate Products

We have several similar products that we would like to list on one product page. For example we may have 4 different porcelain vases that only differ by pattern. They were built as individual products and we can't easily rebuild/resku them because of our ERP/warehouse/sales partners.

Are there any clever ways to list them on a single product page where the various patterns can be selected as if they were variants in the traditional sense? We don't want a drastically different product page experience here.

Bonus points if the individual products were still accessible through SRCH and CTGY but when you get to any of the products, you see all the associated products (patterns). We recently did this with our Amazon listings and would love to carry it over to Miva if possible.

    Thanks!

There are a few ways to achieve this. You can leverage related products and customize the related product layout to make it look like attributes. You would need some additional JS to add the correct product to the basket.

Another option would be to call in the additional products via our API (https://docs.miva.com/developer/deve...st_load_query/) then modify the layout of the page to make them show as attributes.

If using Shadows, the Product List Page Builder Component would likely need to be customized to achieve this functionality

Thanks Brennan, this is on our longer-term to-do list. But good to know what type of options are available.

I'm curious, if you don't mind me asking: why can't you just use variants?

Thats a great question Kent. And it's possible I don't fully understand variants. After you posted this, I logged in and realized that I can specify what product is attached to each variant after I've generated them. I assumed that the variants were just the auto-generated SKUs from the generate variants process, since that's how we always used them. So now that I have these products specified to the variants, the PROD page operates exactly like regular variant products (because duh). I need to do some testing on placing an order and seeing what SKU is sent to my ERP but I assume it will be the product code I specified in the variants.

          Thanks!

gmanning if the Variant product has a SKU then that SKU will be added to the order item. The order item will include the master product code/name but the SKU will be the variant SKU if it is present.

You can also use a category page as a stand in the product listing all four products
