Objective:
I need to confirm the supported and recommended ways to implement a category-constrained search experience (e.g., “search within Cannon”), without relying on undocumented behavior or theme-specific hacks.
Context:
I’m trying to definitively confirm how Miva handles category-constrained searches at the platform level.
Tests performed:
Global search:
…/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SRCH&Search=50mm
Attempted category-constrained search:
…/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SRCH&Search=50mm&Category_Code =Cannon
Result:
Both URLs return identical results. The Category_Code parameter appears to be ignored by the SRCH screen.
Questions:
I’m specifically looking to confirm what is supported vs unsupported so I can design around platform reality rather than assumptions.

Questions:
- Is this expected behavior for the standard SRCH screen?
- Does SRCH support category scoping via URL parameters at all?
- If not, is the intended / supported pattern:
- SRCH for global search, and
- CTGY (Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=…) for category-scoped discovery?
- Are there any documented or supported approaches (without custom search engines or third-party modules) to implement “search within a category”?
I’m specifically looking to confirm what is supported vs unsupported so I can design around platform reality rather than assumptions.
