Kit product setup is confusing and complicated

I have always struggled with the inventory kit builder which seems to be overly complicated.
The documentation shows the example of how to create a kit with 2 CPU choices through attributes setup with inventory variants.
But what about just a simple kit, consisting of x amount of existing items, simply purchased together as a kit? No choice needed.
It seems the only way is to still create an attribute, set it and then link the products to it.
    As in this example

Also, there seems to be now way to override the images pulled by the assigned kit items.

I am just wondering if anyone is actually using Miva's product kits?
Unless I am totally missing something, this function seems inadequately developed.

Patd265 I’m not entirely sure how widely Product Kits are being used today. The Inventory Kit Builder is fairly specialized functionality, so usage across merchants may be limited, but it’s definitely an interesting question.

That said, for your specific scenario—creating a product kit on a product without attributes—this is achievable in Miva with minimal setup by using the Default Variant feature.

If the product has no attributes (and Inventory is enabled for the store), you can do the following:
      1. Open the product in the admin.
      2. Navigate to the Inventory Variants tab.
      3. Click the three-dot (more) menu and select Edit Default Variant.

The default variant can have multiple parts assigned, and pricing can be configured just like any other variant:
      • Controlled by the master product
      • Calculated as the sum of parts
      • Or set to a specific value

Once the default variant is configured, the assigned parts behave the same as standard variant parts—inventory will be properly decremented when the master product is added to the cart.

        Nick Thanks for that explanation.
I made the changes to this test product, added 3 products to the default variant but the kit product does not show a price and inventory on the site.
Placing one in basket does provide the combined pricing.
There's also sufficient inventory for each kit sub item.
