No Attributes in Expotred Flat File

Just exported our products into a flat file and noticed there are no attributes. is there a reason for this?

We're using Viking Coder's Inventory Manager module - could this be the reason?

    Thanks!

If you are just using the standard miva export, then no, it won't export attributes.

Are you trying to import to a Merchant 5 store? Or what are you going to do with the products once you export them?

because if you are tyring to import everything into a Merchant 5 store, you wouldn't use the standard Miva export functions.

If you need to export attributes in your 4.X store and then reimport them, I think you will need a third party module.

will try and confirm it and get back to you about that.

Yes, I am exporting to a flat file from Miva 4 and importing that file into Miva 5.

      Thanks!

There's a tool specifically for that, it's a 4.x exporter that will include everything. You don't use the normal export to put it into 5.5.

Download the latest ZIP in this thread: http://extranet.mivamerchant.com/for...410#post365410

It has three tools, one for look and feel, one for catalog (which is the one you're looking for) and one for Order History.
            Thanks,

Been waiting about 10 minutes for the export to finish - how long should this take?

Got tired of waiting and did it again - this time checking the "Email to me' box and got the email in a couple of minutes.

Uploaded the xml file to the Miva 5 store and it imported all the products plus all of the category pages, (which I didn't want).

The products still don't have their attributes. :-(

Could the problem be that I was using Viking Coders Inventory Manager module in the Miva 4 store?

                Thanks!

download the free notepad++ and in your XML file, you will be able to edit out where it adds categories (tedious, but not impossible). notepad++ will make your life easier when dealing with txt / xml files.

Nope. the standard miva tables keep track of the TYPES of attributes and options you have, but the Inventory manager adds a separate table (or two) that then tacks the inventory of those attributes. but it still needs the standard Miva Merchant attributes database files.

I would open up the xml file that the catalog export created and search for a string of text that would appear in the attributes, just to make sure that it is indeed exporting the attributes.

Is there a way to export from one MM5 store to another MM5 store?

                        New store or existing store?

                        MySQL?

Existing store. MySQL. We are moving from a pre-wombat store to wombat. Scratching the old framework for the CSS one. The old store is live and we did not want to disrupt it messing with design. Thus we are working on the new one as a "dev" store.

Are you going from 4 to 5.5 or 5.5 to 5.5? The reason I ask is this is the 4.x Forum.

There's an upgrade tool you should use from 4. to 5.5 that will have everything.
                            Thanks,
