Re: How do I empty large .mvx files
Hi there, Rick:
If she's on 4.00 (which is incredibly old at this point) there's a bug in the affiliate system that will cause that to keep happening even with it turned off, FYI.
My 4.24 store doesn't seem to have that problem anymore now that I have deactivated the built in Merchant Affiliate program.

Re: How do I empty large .mvx files
Thanks To All Of You !!!
I did the "dbfutils" thing on the affsess.dbt file and, just as you indicated, the .mvx files were taken care of when I "packed" the stores.
And, since I turned off the Affiliate portion of the site (which never worked anyway), hopefully that dbf file will no longer keep creating these huge files.
Now I just need to figure out where the rest of this custom site's templates are and how to customize them ... seems like all files are binary ... oh well, onward we go with a huge coffee cup at hand. LOL
Thanks again you all have been extremely generous with your time and expertise and I really appreciate it.

Re: How do I empty large .mvx files
Hello,
I had a feeling deleting the .mvx files would cause some type of error, because the database refers or cross references the index files. Thanks Bruce!

The .mvx files are index files that you can't clean up, and I don't know what the consequences would be if you deleted them

Hello,
You need to make sure that file affsess.dbf you get from your host is of the same version of Miva Merchant your client is running. You cannot take .dbf files from different versions of Miva and replace them on your server. That is the Affiliate Sessions database. If you have a dbf viewer/editor you can download that file and manually 'zap' it and then re-upload it back to your server and pack the data files in the miva merchant administration. The .mvx files are index files that you can't clean up, and I don't know what the consequences would be if you deleted them. For now, I wouldn't worry about the .mvx files and just focus on the .dbf files. Along with that, do you plan on upgrading this client to a "Supported" version of miva merchant any time soon?
Regards,

Re: How do I empty large .mvx files
You need to get a blank copy of the affsess.dbf file from your host and upload it to your site's data directory, then pack the store (Stores > Store Name > Utilities > Pack Store.
