Jim, I doubt the newest version of the module is installed. All of the versions/updates/settings have been the same since at least Nov. 1, 2004. I will contact Bill for an update, but if an update was a needed to prevent the SGS error from occuring, wouldn't I have needed to update the module prior to this? 6+ years is a long time to go without this issue occuring once, since now it's happened 3x in one month since changing engines. I just don't see how this could solve the problem under the circumstances. This customer is long gone, so we'll have to wait until another customer contacts us with the same SGS error to know.

I'm thinking a better plan of action is to just try to upgrade to 5.5 as soon as possible.

Have you made sure your shipping module is the latest version of it?

Hey Jim, thanks for the quick reply. Using Bill Weiland's subtotal by state shipping module and the set up has been exactly the same for years and years. Never had this issue in all the years and now 3 within just one month. The only change has been to a new host and new version of empressa. So I'm thinking there is a conflict somewhere. Could it be a linkpoint issue? We are using the newest version of the linkpoint module.

Sales tax is not being charged in the 3 instances that I know of. We only charge sales tax to orders shipping to GA or NV.

I think you just started to notice it after updating to Empresa v5.11. What shipping modules are you using? What is the tax rate you have configured?

Hello, we had this same issue again. Another customer contacted us with the error message:
Unable to authorize payment: SGS-002301: Charge total must be the sum of subtotal, tax, value added tax, and shipping. I wonder how many orders we are losing from customers simply abandoning their carts? This has happened at least 3 times in the past month, but most likely more.

This problem started to appear after updating to empressa 5.11 and never happened prior. The issue is with empressa 5.11/MM 4.xx/Linkpoint/no shipping charge. There are no errors if the shipping is adjusted to $0.01

This is fixed in 5.x, by the way, I just happen to know it used to be an issue in the old days.

This most likely has to do with Linkpoint's banker's rounding issues. I don't recall the details, Jim can chime in tomorrow. But you probably ended up in a situation where the third digit rounded differently in the store than in linkpoint.

Update: I was desperate to get this order charged so it could ship tommorrow... so I went into Bill's Minimum or Subtotal Shipping by State Zone module and changed the shipping from Free to charging one cent for shipping. After that the order went through no problems at all!

I'm assuming it's a bug?? of some sort... however other CC orders which qualify for free shipping *are* going through without problem. *puzzled*

I switched back to offering free shipping over a certain dollar amount again. But I'm guessing this won't be the last time I enounter this issue. :-(

Oh no *game show losing sound* I updated to the newest linkpt.mvc module version number 4.2403 (verified that it was indeed the version number now installed), opened a new browser, re-entered the order went to checkout again, entered the CC info. and the same message: Unable to authorize payment: SGS-002301: Charge total must be the sum of subtotal, tax, value added tax, and shipping.

This is a straight-forward order... no coupons, gift certificates, etc. I don't know what's going on. Do you think it could be a linkpoint API issue? Or a bug of some sort?

Yes, this is a MM 4.22 store Leslie.

I don't know why these errors would have just started popping up like that when they never did before.

There is no v5.02 patch for v4 either. That would have been for v5.

Since the post is in the Miva Merchant 4 and Older forum is it safe to "assume" the store is MM4 and not the latest version?

Is your store fully up to date? Any patch for Miva Merchant v5 is streamed out and to get it you just have to run the update wizard. What production release is your store on? Login to the amdin interface and you should see something like this:

Production Release 7 Update 9
Miva Merchant Engine v5.10

PR7 Update 9 is the latest release.

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help... I'm trying to manually enter an order received via fax (after a frustrated customer gave up and faxed the order with credit card info in for us to enter). However, I'm receiving the same error the customer did.... a linkpoint error: Unable to authorize payment: SGS-002301

I've searched on the forums but the last post regarding this was really old and the 5.02 patch fix for this seems to no longer be on miva.com

The order qualified for free shipping (using the emporium plus Minimum or Subtotal Shipping by State Zone module). But I've been using Bill's module for years and never had a problem before offering free shipping, and other orders which qualify for free shipping are successfully going through today... but for some reason this one is giving this error. A customer also had this problem last week... an order which we lost as a result.

Linkpoint API is closed until tomorrow AM... but I have a feeling they might try pass the blame to the shopping cart anyway.

The only recent change on our end has been the migration to a new host and a subsequent change in Empressa (now with empressa 5.11). Everything else is *exactly* the same as it has been for years. I'm wondering, has anyone else been receiving this SGS error recently? Is there a fix for this?
