Is it possible to use both the simple credit card verification module as well as a real-time processing module at the same time? We want to have real-time processing for regular retail customers, but use perhaps the Payment by Group module to designate our wholesale price group as just a credit card capture without processing- but I'm wondering if this isn't what the module is meant for, or the best way to go about this.

Yes, you can do this, but you'd need some sort of module that would display appropriate payment module to the different two groups of customers: real-time payment module options to regular customers, and the simple CC validation to customers who belong to a particular Group in your store. There's probably a few different ways of implementing this... Check mivacentral.com first for any off-the-shelf modules that would allow you to do this, first, as that would be the least expensive option. If there are no such modules, you'd need a custom mod written for your store to allow you to differentiate between the two customer types and display appropriate payment options during checkout.
