Google Webmaster Verification of Meta Tag

Hi,
I trying to access my sites stats on google webmaster and it tells me I need to paste in a meta tag :Place meta tag after the <head> tag and before the </head> tag

So, google genterated a meta tag and I placed it in the "global screen header" section of my store between "head" and "head" and google tells me it still can not verify my site.
Anybody know how to get this done?

Hi musicforkids,

I recommend clicking on your store name and then "Head Tag Content/CSS"; put the google verification meta tag as the first line. This needs to be before your <head> tag. If you have a static index file then you will need to edit the static file directly.

If you still have trouble you may want to use the file verification method; I have found this to be more reliable some times.
