How would this work with a Payment gateway such as PayFlowPro? Seems great that this module will display the prices in the currency of choice but what occurs at checkout?

      Re: US and CAD Currencies

Currency Magic only changes the way prices are displayed to customers. Internally, the store continues to do everything in its "home currency." None of the price data in your Miva databases will ever be changed, and payment processing will continue as before.

Complete documentation on the module can be viewed at http://TheMagicM.com/modhelp/currencymagic.

        Re: US and CAD Currencies

Just to clarify Kent's post... as we have had clients ask about this before... That module will allow you to display prices in various currencies, but the store will still process payments ONLY in the store default currency (US$ if you are using a US$ merchant account). It's more of a convenience for people in different countries to see an approximate value of the product(s) in their local currency, but their cards will still be charged in US$ if they buy from you.

If you already have a dedicated store for Canadian customers that has all prices listed in C$, then you do not need this module. You just need a merchant account that processes credit cards in C$, and then a gateway to connect it to your Canadian store (cannot be the same as the gateway used for US$ transactions deposited into a separate US$ merchant account).

Remik's clarification is correct for the most part. For a Canadian store that needs to process payments in Canadian dollars, it's true, Currency Magic has no effect on that. But once you get your Canadian store working, you can still use Currency Magic, so that your non-Canadian customers can view prices in US dollars, or any other currencies you want to support. Currency Magic is not locked to US dollars; it will work with stores that are based on other currencies.

              Re: US and CAD Currencies

Now i know what i need to do to have my CAD and US stores, however i am having a few problems actually implementing it since i am not too experienced with Miva. I have already purchased the 'Additional Store License' and i know what to do with the payment processing etc, but i need some help actually installing the module and setting it up. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know...

              Cheers,

              Dan

You can host both stores on the same domain using Additional Store License for the second store, but those would be two independent stores - sharing one common admin login to both stores, and the same domain name, SSL certificate, etc.
Could you draw from the same image pool for both stores? I mean is their a way to minimize upkeep on 2 stores. If on the same domain how would you sperate the stores between US and Canada?

                  Re: US and CAD Currencies

Images wouldn't be a problem (if you are referring to product images), just change:

                  graphics/00000002/name.jpg (on the second store)

                  to

graphics/00000001/name.jpg (which references the first store).

Of course, this means you can use the "upload" feature in the second store, but the image should already be in the first store's directory anyway.
