    Re: Google Analytics - Revisited

    Hi all,

Has anyone posted a definitive solution to get "everything" working with Google Analytics for Miva 5?

I have used the Wolfpaw code and am seeing everything except for Search Engine Marketing (CPC, Adwords, etc) and Product Merchandising information. I would like to see of course info down to Adwords Keyword Conversions, which I am not right now. Most of this is because I have not setup "Goal Settings". I have seen many approaches to this in the forums, but... which one works? And will it just work if I install the GOL module? Does it come with documentation on how to setup goal settings, funnels, etc?

    :D

      Re: Google Analytics - Revisited

      Hi,
My Analytics modules does not come with documentation on how to set up goal tracking, etc. This is a function of Google, not the module.
However, you can purchase from E-Commerce Intelligence "Full Functionality", which includes my module, and a complete setup of Google.

I do know its possible to do all you need. I can't respond to Wolfpaws code, but can tell you that my module does make available to Google Analytics all the information needed. What Google does with it is determined by the setup on the Analytics side.

Do people tend to use order_total or order_subtotal with Google Analytics? When you use OpenOrder Sales Summary in OpenStats for example, it bases the total revenue on subtotal data.

        UTM:T|%ORDERNUM%|blik|%order_total%|%order_tax%|%o rder_shipping%|%order_ship_city%|%order_ship_state %|%order_ship_cntry%

I've been using the above in Google Analytics and am now implementing AdWords tracking and am not sure whether to use the total or subtotal there (the sample code AdWords code I've found in these forums use order_subtotal).

I know it's really up to *me*, just curious as to which numbers mean more to people.

That really depends on what you want to track.

Typically, the subtotal is the more accurate since it does not include shipping, tax, and other charges.

However, if you have things like coupons, discounts, or Weiland's Misc fee module - where you have Other Charges that are reducing the subtotal, then total may work better for you.

Does GA track the Miva e-commerce data pretty well? I am thinking of suggesting this to a client.

            Thank you

Yes, in my opinion it does track purchases well. The information includes total revenue, conversion rate, average order value, purchased products, transactions, product performance, visits to purchase and days to purchase among other things. I am not familiar with other analytics programs, but am satisfied with what Google Analytics provides for free.
