PR7 Wombat - Order Status Page for Customers to Check

Hi,

I just upgraded to PR7, and want to create a page where customers can enter their order details to check the status and see the tracking number if their order has been shipped. Where/how can I accomplish this?

I know that there is an option to have an e-mail sent to customers when their order status changes, but I prefer to have a page where customers can go to in order to check their order status. I would like this page to be accessible by all customers, not only those who opened an account.

Look at the sticky thread in this forums with the videos, there's a video which walks yu through it.

The page was already created during the upgrade you just need to style it and link to it.

Rick, i was under the assumption that only Account holders can check on there order status. I would love to use the manger now, but we currently use the Viking order status and a mod that allows even non account holder to see there order. We don't require people to create an account in order to purchase... it is this reason why we got the addon mod for the "order status" to allow non account holders to check there status through a email and order ID

Has this changed?

Yes, this is possible. Just create a link to a new Wombat page called "ORHL" and there customers can check their order status by entering their e-mail address and zip code, no need to have an account. Works like a charm.

Some of the tutorial videos don't work on Firefox 3.63. I had to view them in Google Chrome.

I think the viking coders might be more robust (you can have as many different status states as you want - partial shipment, problems, etc.,). but that the built in wombat is going to be more integrated and hence, easier to use and quicker for us merchants.

for example, you can print up UPS labels and automatically get the tracking numbers populated with the Wombat version. And in July (hopefully) Merchant will be able to do USPS postage from the Mange Shipments linked to an endicia.com account.

So you won't have to copy and paste tracking numbers / delivery confirmation numbers.

Also, if you are using the Merchant approved gateways, and you settle your credit cards at the time of shipping the product, then using the manage orders / manage shipments in wombat will be easy, too.

Well we can do Partial Shipments today too, but you're right you can't currently set your own. We'll be looking at support for more of those kind of things as we have a better understanding of how people will use them.

How do you Cancel an order? I saw a Cancel button in the Manage Orders admin screen when i click on the order number, but it is grayed out. I(s there a way to notify the customer that it has been canceled (aside from emailing them by hand)?

That's how you do it, but right now it doesn't send a cancellation email. We're looking at how to address that in the next release or so.

I must be missing a step, Or maybe I am not clear:

I am looking for a Cancel status for the customer to see when they view Order History.

Because when I click on an order number in the Manage Orders / shipments screens, the Cancel button is unclickable (it looks like a ghost!). The Delete, Split, and Create shipment buttons are also phantoms.

Or does that Cancel button only apply to canceling Credit Card authorizations / Capturing funds? (I am using a payment module that doesn't support capturing / settling through the Merchant 5.5 admin interface).

Sorry about that, I was referring to your previous post.

In order to "Cancel" an order it must be in the Pending or Processing State (as in not Shipped). From there you check mark either the item within the order or all the items and click Cancel from within the Order itself.

Once something is marked as Shipped, your only options are to go through the Return steps.

It can also be in the Backordered State, anything pre-shipped.
